Dixie Twilight Farmer’s Market

A new farmer’s market has begun in Dixieland area near downtown Lakeland. It is near Concord Coffee Co. and Fat Maggie’s Restaurant.   

Wednesdays, 4pm to Sunset. Located at the Dixieland Village Parking Lot 1035 S Florida Ave Lakeland FL 33803

Bicycle Maintenance Station at Lake Hollingsworth 

At Lake Hollingsworth,  a bicycle maintenance station was installed recently. There is an air pump and some repair tools. 

The station can be found just off the trail, east of the parking lot. Very handy!

 

New Park Bench on Trail



A new park bench has been installed on the Peterson Park trail. It is about halfway down the jogging path between the end of New Jersey Road and the walking bridge. What a nice view!

New Sign at Woodlake Park!

New sign installed at Woodlake Park on the corner of New Jersey Road and Waterford Drive. Other recent addition to the park is 6 pickleball courts and the pond was landscaped last year.

Woodlake Park is located at 3415 New Jersey Road. The park amenities include: tennis, children’s playground, pavilion, picnic tables, grills, green space, and pickleball courts. The park is landscaped with large oak trees, a landscaped pond, and other trees and bushes.

Woodlake Trash Collection will be on Jan 3rd 2015 this week

Offices closed January 1, 2015. No Collection on Thursday. Pick up will be one day later for the remainder of the week.

What is Pickleball?
Pickleball is a sport played with a paddle on a court or in the yard, Pickle-ball is a cross between badminton, tennis, and ping-pong. The court looks like a small tennis court.

How many courts are available?
There are 6 courts in the park.

Where are the courts located?
Pickleball courts are located in WoodLake Park, closest to Waterford Drive.

Educational Signs at Lake Somerset Park

Two new educational signs have been placed in Lake Somerset Park boat ramp parking area. They can be accessed off Glendale Road.

Woodpeckers at Lake Somerset Park

Woodpeckers can be seen in Lake Somerset Park along with a variety of other song birds such as blue jays, red-winged blackbirds, sparrows, and mocking birds.

These quick little birds are fun to watch and to photograph while visiting Lake Somerset Park.
